1. Background

After law school, Glaser clerked for Federal District Judge Hon. David W. Williams. In 1973, she was admitted to the California State Bar and associated with the law firm of Wyman, Bautzer, Christensen, Kuchel & Silbert. Glaser became a partner at the Wyman firm in 1979, remaining there until the 1988 formation of Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Glaser, Weil & Shapiro.

2. Description of Specialty

Glaser serves as co-head of the litigation department and finds her litigation practice at Christensen to be "exciting, dynamic, and intellectually stimulating." Her practice involves commercial litigation and the providing of general legal advice to publicly and privately held companies in such areas as real estate, contracts, antitrust, entertainment, banking and securities. She was the litigation partner for a Federal Court Receivership involving over a $100 million in cash and real estate; she served as the coordinating partner in the MGM Grand Fire Litigation; she served as co-trial counsel in the MGM Grand Retroactive Insurance Litigation (which settled after the jury was impanelled for approximately $76 million); she served as lead trial counsel representing a major film laboratory against claims of toxic chemical exposure involving numerous employees; and, as lead counsel for a major motion picture company, she successfully avoided an involuntary bankruptcy proceeding which several key creditors were attempting to force on the company (please see the attached list). Also, she served as lead trial counsel in the recent case against Kim Basinger in which the jury rendered a multi-million dollar verdict.

  1. Film Asset Holding Co. v. Weintraub (50% Bank of America, and 50% Credit Lyonnais). Opposing counsel: Frank Rothman of Skadden Arps. Breach of contract against Jerry Weintraub. Good settlement after filing of initial complaint.
  2. Universal Financial Receivership. Federal District Court Judge Matthew Byrne. Case included multi-million dollar cash and real property receivership involving numerous fraud claims. Opposing counsel: numerous.
  3. MGM adv. Telemundo. Judge Richard Byrne. Opposing counsel: Joel Linzer of Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May. Successfully defended motion for preliminary injunction involving double licensing of large groups of motion pictures.
  4. MGM Involuntary Bankruptcy Proceeding. Judge Arthur Greenwald. Opposing counsel: numerous. Successfully defeated efforts by creditors to put client into involuntary bankruptcy.
  5. MGM Grand Fire Liability and Property Litigation. Multi-district litigation. Federal District Court Judge Lewis Bechtel. Opposing counsel: numerous. Involved numerous personal injury and property claims arising from the MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas.
  6. MGM Lab Litigation. Judge Jack Ryburn. Opposing counsel: numerous. Claims arising from lab workers alleging fraudulent concealment regarding unsafe exposure to certain chemicals.
  7. Taft & Main adv. Old Stone. Judge Phillip Jones. Opposing counsel: Brian Bird of Fried, Bird & Crumpacker. Lender liability case which settled very favorably during trial.
  8. Cohn v. Rosenfeld. Federal District Court Judge Matthew Byrne. Opposing counsel: James Tierney. Trial and judgment for our client involving breach of contract and fraud claims.
  9. MGM Grand Retroactive Insurance Litigation. Judge Goldman. Settled for $76,000,000 after jury impaneled. Opposing Counsel: numerous. Lead trial co-counsel. Suit against several layers of carriers which insured after the fire.
  10. MGM v. Warner Bros. Judge Bruce Geernaert. Opposing counsel: Hill, Wynne, Troup & Meisinger. Judgment for MGM after full trial on the merits involving claims for foreign home video rights.
  11. MGM adv. CBS/Fox. Magistrate Naomi Buchwald. Co-counsel with Jim Daniels of Hall, Dickler, Lawler, Kent & Friedman. Opposing counsel: Weil, Gotshall & Manges. Case favorably settled after trial set to determine rights arising from domestic home video rights agreement.
  12. Pacific Capital adv. Schneider. Judge C.E. Jones. Co-counsel with Marshall Grossman. Opposing counsel: Peter Umoff. Case involved claims of existence of partnership revolving around car dealership and real property in Santa Barbara. Case favorably settled prior to trial.
  13. MGM v. Forum. et al. Judge Michael Berg. Opposing counsel: numerous. Co-Counsel with Bill Shernoff. Bad faith insurance case settled for many millions of dollars (confidential amount). -- arising from underlying securities class action.
  14. Tiffany Theaters adv. Actors Equity Union. Successfully opposing federal and state court proceedings and NLRB proceedings to enjoin theater opening.
  15. Yamagata adv. Martin Lawrence Galleries. Judge Judith Chirlin. Opposing counsel: Jeff Briggs of Gibson, Dunn Crutcher. Case involved breach of contract, RICO and antitrust claims -- favorable settlement for our client.
  16. Lee Rich v. MGM, Judge Dickran Tevrizian. Opposing counsel: Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman. Securities case that was favorably settled.
  17. GIANT GROUP. LTD. adv TRE. Federal District Court, securities litigation. Opposing counsel: Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Case involved alleged proxy violations in takeover matter.
  18. San Juan DuPont Plaza Fire Litigation - San Juan Federal District Court. Opposing counsel: numerous. Represented number of defendant limited partnership hotels which were sued because of common ownership. Case favorably settled before trial.
  19. Cummins Labor Commissioner proceedings. Opposing counsel: Allen Neiman. Demonstrated "producer" of television commercials really an interested talent agency.
  20. McDonnell Douqlas adv. Riddlebaugh. State Court in Long Beach favorably settled after motion for summary judgment filed. Opposing counsel: David Eckhart. Claims were for fraudulent concealment in the workplace and negligence.
  21. Barris adv. Lorimar. Federal District Court Judge Rafeedie. Opposing counsel: Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman. Successful opposition to preliminary injunction to enjoin television game show.
  22. Barris adv. Elaine Joyce. State Court in Los Angeles. Settled on eve of trial for very small amount. Opposing counsel: Timothy Wheeler. Claims were for sex discrimination and breach of contract.
  23. GIANT GROUP. LTD. adv. Ralliana. Takeover litigation in Kentucky and Delaware which resulted in our client's control of company. Opposing counsel: law firms in Kentucky, New York and Delaware.
  24. Main Line Pictures v. Kim Basinger. Eight million dollars awarded by jury based upon a breach of contract claim. This case settled after Ms. Basinger declared bankruptcy.
  25. David Permut v. New Line. First look producer litigation in Los Angeles Federal Court. Confidential settlement achieved while jury deliberating. Opposing counsel: Pierce O'Donnell.
  26. Kerkorian/Credit Lyonnais. Judges Hubbell and Real. Over a billion dollars of claims based upon, inter alia, theories of fraudulent conveyance, fraud, breach of contract. Confidential settlement achieved after motions for summary judgment granted. Opposing counsel: White & Case.
  27. Numerous applications for and opposition to temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunction orders.
  28. Re: marital dissolution. numerous order to show cause hearings and trials.
  29. Brown v. Hard Rock - Judge Judith Chirlin. Claims for millions of dollars for 9% interest in Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and wrongful termination. Jury verdict for defendants.
  30. Zenga v. Dabney Resnick. Judge Kim Wardlaw. Represented plaintiff claiming several millions of dollars arising from securities fraud. Jury verdict for plaintiff.
  31. Press Media v. Ad-Sert. Judge Ronald Sohigian. Represented plaintiff claiming several millions of dollars arising from interference with contractual relations. Case settled after jury impaneled and some evidence was presented.
  32. Represented several law firms against malpractice claims. In addition, acted as an expert witness in connection with a malpractice lawsuit on the side of the law firm.
  33. Salick v. Shukovsky. Judge Diane Wayne. Represented defendant against claims of easement and license in connection with real property. Court judgment for defendants.
  34. Marsu v. Disney. Judge Edward Rafeedie. Represented plaintiff claiming several million dollars arising from breach of contract and fraud. Court judgment for plaintiff for $10.4 million plus attorneys fees and costs.
  35. Viner v. Williams & Connolly. Judge David Workman. Represented plaintiffs claiming several million dollars arising from attorney malpractice in a complex business transaction. Jury verdict for plaintiff for $13,300,000.
